I've been talking about North Dakota State WR Bryce Lance for a while now! You know I live for the deep dive players, but this guy is not really a deep dive. He is a legit NFL prospect who has NFL scouts very excited. If you are new around here, let me explain the scouting process really quickly. I use a three pronged method. Traits/Intangibles/Football IQ -- This is the method all the best GMs use fwiw. There are many layers of nuance in each category, but in general, they all add up to create these three key categories. While Lance may not be a top name on everyone’s lists, he is an easy box checker. My process like him a lot.

Traits (The Measurables)

Lance is 6-2 210 and was on Bruce Feldman's FREAK LIST, so you know he is gonna test well. He is bursty and athletic. He will probably run in the 4.4s at the scouting combine, and is expected have one of the better broad jumps of all participants. Nice catch radius. I wish he had a little more bulk, but he definitely checks the traits box thresholds.

Intangibles (The Person) Go listen to Lance in an interview. He is bright and articulate. A former 3-Star recruit, he has shown a lot of program loyalty, sticking with the Bisons in a backup role before his stellar 2024 breakout campaign (75-1053-18). He received a ton of offers from bigger name programs in the off season, but decided to keep loyal to NDSU in 2025.

Lance has NFL bloodlines. He is the younger brother of NFL QB Trey Lance, so you know he understands what to expect at the next level. He is a tough kid, willing to give up his body to make the difficult catch. Teammates love him. He is going to work as hard as anyone and will enamor himself to coaches. **Readers, it's a game of opportunity. You don't want to draft players who are gonna wind up in a coach's dog house, no matter how gifted they are. If you've been playing fantasy sports for a while, this will not be a foreign concept to you. Intangibles matter. It shows up on the field in every game. You want a player coaches will easily trust, and at WR you want a player his QB will trust in big moments. That's what separates good from great in the end.

Football IQ (On-Field Play)

Bryce Lance has been a big time performer for the Bisons. He had 154 total yards and two TDs in his game vs Southern Illinois last weekend, including a 75 yard run for a touchdown. He is a threat after the catch with his burst and vision in the open field. He runs smart routes, and he is very comfortable finding soft spots in zone. -That's a very translatable WR asset - His body control and focus really stand out and should also translate well to the next level. He makes acrobatic catches all over the field. Lance is a smart player who understands the game and plays with a lot of passion, and it shows up on tape.

NDSU WR Bryce Lance Prospect Review by Yours Truly

Get your shares! Bryce Lance is an underrated NFL Draft Prospect and potential Late-Round Gem. Keep your eye on him in the pre-draft process. He may end up going higher than you think! I've already picked up a few Devy shares, but he should be widely available in most leagues. While Lance may never end up being "the guy" in the pros, he will get his targets. I like him as a potential high end WR2 for an NFL franchise.

I'l leave you with this... It's kind of a low-key deep class of Wide Receivers. If you play dynasty, please collect mid-round rookie picks! You wont regret it! We'll have to wait until April to see where Bryce Lance ultimately lands in the NFL Draft, but it seems like he'll be a screaming value for us in Dynasty no matter where he winds up. Get those shares!
